The Roselli Opening Knife with Blunt Tip is a purpose-built hunting knife designed for safe, controlled field dressing and game processing.
Its rounded blade tip helps reduce the risk of puncturing internal organs during opening and gutting, making it especially useful for hunters who want greater control during the first stages of processing game.
Compared with a pointed hunting knife, the blunt-tip design is better suited for opening the body cavity and basic gutting work. It is less versatile for tasks such as boning out legs or making deeper precision cuts, but its specialized shape makes it a dependable tool for clean, careful field dressing.
New Rounded-Tip Blade Design
Roselli’s updated blade design is shaped specifically for opening game in a safer and more hygienic way.
The rounded tip helps the hunter guide the blade through hide and tissue while reducing the chance of accidentally piercing the stomach, intestines, or other internal organs.
That makes the knife a practical choice for deer hunters, elk hunters, and other sportsmen who process game in the field and want a dedicated opening knife rather than relying on a general-purpose blade.
Carbon Steel Blade
The blade is made from Roselli carbon steel and hardened to approximately 60 HRC.
Carbon steel is valued for its ability to take a very sharp edge and maintain that edge through repeated cutting. For hunters processing multiple animals or working through hide and connective tissue, the longer-lasting sharpness can be a significant advantage over many conventional stainless steel blades.
The tradeoff is that carbon steel requires a little more care. Wipe the blade clean and dry after use and apply appropriate protection when storing it for extended periods.
Curly Birch Handle
The handle is crafted from curly birch and treated with linseed oil.
The natural wood provides a warm, traditional Finnish appearance while offering a secure, comfortable grip. The linseed oil finish helps protect the wood and maintain grip even when conditions become wet or slippery.
Because curly birch is a natural material, each handle will have its own grain, color, and pattern, making every knife slightly different.
Handmade Finnish Leather Sheath
Each Roselli Opening Knife comes with a handcrafted sheath made from light vegetable-tanned Finnish leather.
The sheath protects the blade during transport and storage while complementing the knife’s traditional materials and handcrafted construction.
Built for Field Dressing Game
The Roselli Opening Knife is especially useful for:
-
Opening the body cavity during field dressing
-
Basic gutting and game processing
-
Reducing the chance of puncturing internal organs
-
Hunters who prefer a dedicated blunt-tip opening knife
-
Deer and big-game hunting
-
Field processing at camp or in remote locations
-
Hunters who appreciate traditional Finnish knife craftsmanship
This is a specialized hunting tool rather than an all-purpose boning knife. If you need a knife for boning legs, detailed trimming, or more aggressive cutting, a pointed hunting or boning knife may be a better companion tool.
